Writing Letters to Myself is an investigation of identity in the form of poetry, painting, and photography.
Inspired by the photographer Francesca Woodman, these portraits play with what it looks like to capture a person, without capturing their face. Framed by self authored poetry from years of writing, and overlaid by mylar to veil the words themselves, the idea of hidden pieces of soul is palpable. Swathes of color indicate a connection between feeling and pigment, pushing watery emotion to the surface of a photograph.
